Hold the Child plays a leading role in advancing human rights and civic engagement in South Sudan. In 2025, we organized a National Consultative Conference on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), sub-national dialogues, and capacity-building sessions for over 500 participants. We strengthened civil society organizations with training in advocacy, shadow reporting, and research.
The initiative revealed the power of faith-based and inclusive advocacy in peacebuilding. While challenges like short training durations and limited funding persist, the lessons are clear: culturally respectful and grassroots-led rights advocacy is a transformative tool for peace.
