Child labour remains a persistent challenge in South Sudan, but change is happening. Hold the Child led awareness campaigns across Bor and nearby communities, engaging chiefs, religious leaders, families, and young people. The campaign encouraged school enrolment and linked families to livelihoods as alternatives to child labour. Communities began recognizing that child protection is a shared responsibility — not just the role of NGOs or government.
While economic challenges remain, our field monitoring revealed growing willingness to protect children’s futures. We continue to advocate for stronger enforcement of child protection laws and to expand referral systems for vulnerable children.
